The lodge is set in the shade of giant Knobthorn and Jackleberry trees on the banks of the Sand River. Ebony is a tribute to the vogue and muted luxury of colonial times, echoing a bygone age.

The suites are warm and classical - each  has a double fireplace, private plunge pool, outside shower, en-suite bathroom with large Victorian bath and large shower. The secluded thatched suites are the epitome of elegant comfort, with rooms styled with an eclectic mix of colours, fabrics and textures. The furnishings are reminiscent of a country house, although a quick glance outside will remind you that you are in the African Bush. Four poster beds festooned in white mosquito nets, rich red and orange fabrics, antique pictures, and overstuffed pictures.  Egyptian linen, African throws, antiques and modern luxuries combine to create a homely, lived-in feel.

We regard the game viewing in the Sabi Sands to be some of the finest in Africa. Go ‘off road’ which means that you can get really close to the majestic Big 5 and get that awe inspiring photo that will leave your friends incredulous. There are so many ways to view the wildlife, from the unparalleled panorama of the viewing deck or from your own suite, to the guided game walks and drives. The nocturnal game drives are magical – watch out for the glint of rare and timid creatures that flitter like the wind or the daunting thunder of the Big Five.
