Icon offers all clients financial cover in the event of default by our suppliers. That's right - it won't cost you a cent but will cover your investment, giving you complete peace of mind not only while on holiday, but throughout the booking process. While you probably won't need it, given the size of your holiday investment this cover affords you protection that few other South African based operators can offer.

So what do we mean by financial cover? Well, in these turbulent economic times, it means that your holiday investment is covered in the event that we or any of our suppliers go bust. So you will never be left stranded!

This is cover that you simply do not get if you book direct.

If you were to book direct and the airline, lodge or hotel that you booked with went bust, then you would lose all your money. When you book with us, you get comprehensive 100% cover. Many other companies will say that they are ‘association bonded’, commonly with SATSA, but the cover is limited – often to as little as $400 for your entire itinerary, which would not even cover your airfare, let alone your accommodation or transfers!

Please note that only services booked and paid for through Icon are covered. Our insurance doesn’t cover medical expenses or cancellation expenses and we therefore recommend that you take out additional cover in this regard. We can easily add in medical and cancellation cover for you at a small extra cost – we call this ‘Top Up Insurance’.

We will do our best to provide a safe and memorable African holiday. While less than a handful of our clients have ever had to use their travel insurance, it certainly has come in handy when one considers the average investment made in an African holiday. It is always better to be prepared.

The global recession has heightened the need for clients to be vigilant about curtailment insurance in particular, with over 50 airlines worldwide already becoming victims of the current economic climate, along with many suppliers and tour operators. As your Tour Operator, it is our responsibility to ensure that your holiday investment is covered.

Our Group Travel Insurance Policy is underwritten by the world’s second largest insurance company. All our clients will be insured and issued with a unique policy upon booking confirmation and deposit payment. Testament to our standing and commitment to our clients.

Icon has passed all the financial criteria in order to provide financial cover against our suppliers and against us as your tour operator.
