Overlooking the Sand River, MalaMala Sable Camp is as exclusive as its elegant namesake.
A more intimate version of the main camp, MalaMala forms a large part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which is a privately-owned extension of the Kruger National Park. Sable Camp is the smallest of the three lodges in this enormous private reserve. Peaking through thickets of riverine forest, the thatched suites provide every conceivable luxury.
The décor is a lavish Afro-colonial chic and the lodge looks out over the perennial Sand River taking every opportunity to soak up the view, the night sky and the African bush: rustic decks, a boma for fireside al fresco dining plus the rooms themselves have large bush-facing verandahs.
The main lodge is packed with African artworks and colonial relics creating a warm, relaxed and thoroughly inviting atmosphere. With 20km of river frontage and a vast expanse of uninhabited wilderness, the wildlife and nature experiences at MalaMala are some of the world’s most spectacular.
Wildlife activities include daily game drives, bush walks, night drives and stargazing.
