Legacy Hotels has three self-styled bush lodges in the Pilanesberg National Park catering for a variety of tastes and pockets.

Kwa Maritane Lodge is a resort-like hotel surrounded by the dense African bush and picturesque kopjies (inselbergs). The hotel snakes its way down the slopes of an ancient volcano crater’s ridge and looks into the endless distance of the game reserve.

The high-thatched living area opens onto the large pool area and the décor is all African hues and patterns with cane furniture and palm trees enforcing a relaxed holiday mood.

The 90 rooms and 53 self-catering cabanas and chalets are divided into wings that are shaded by age-old trees. Each is fully air-conditioned and has an en suite bathroom with separate shower, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, tea and coffee station and a mini bar on request.

Dine in the cosy open-sided restaurant, on the terrace by the pool or under the stars in the traditional boma. Meals are uncomplicated and there is enough variety to suit an Olympic squad.

And the activities and facilities on offer will keep that same squad entertained for days: two floodlit tennis courts, two swimming pools, children's playground, table tennis, outdoor chess, trampoline, mini golf, pool table, a wildlife centre, air-gun range, obstacle course and a rock-climbing wall.
